• The restricted phosphorous levels in Specific FKW Feline Kidney Support help prevent hyperphosphatemia and slow down the progression of kidney disease.
• The addition of Omega 3 fatty acids EPA and DHA to Specific FKW Feline Kidney Support helps slow down the progression of kidney disease. In cats suffering from cardiac disease, EPA counteracts cachexia and reduces hypertension and platelet aggregation. The level of fish oil and of EPA and DHA in Specific FKD and FKW Feline Kidney Support are therefore extremely high.
• A reduction in the amount of protein, together with protein having a high biological value, contributes to reducing the risk of uremia in cats with kidney disease. In cats with liver disease, this reduces the risk of hyperammoniemia and hepatic encephalopathy. Proteins with high biological value supply amino acids necessary for metabolism.
• In the case of congestive heart failure, reduced cardiac output results in a reduction of sodium excretion, resulting in water retention. A reduction in sodium levels helps break the vicious cycle of water retention (hypertension and oedema).
• Reduced protein helps limit the urinary concentration of oxalate, cystine and urate. Linked with an alkaline urine pH, this prevents the precipitation of cystine crystals, urate and calcium oxalate. The formation of the latter is also reduced by the potassium citrate in the food.

Pork, fish, soy oil, maize, fish oil, eggs, powered cellulose, minerals, Plantago psyllium husks, vitamins and trace elements, rice, taurine, methionine, L-carnitine.

Specific FKW Feline Kidney Support - Contraindications

Do not use if your cat:

• Is growing, pregnant or lactating
• Has cholestasis: food reduced in fat and containing moderate amounts of protein (such as Specific FRD/FRW Weight Reduction or Specific FXD Adult) is recommended.
• Urinary stones
