Kaopectate - Antidiarrhoeal medicine for dogs and cats

Kaopectate acts as an intestinal bandage, coating the intestinal walls of your dog's or cat's digestive system, helping to treat diarrhoea. Kaopectate comes as a suspension containing pectin and kaolin.

Properties - Kaopectate

Kaolin absorbs bacteria and their toxins, as well as maldigested food contained in the bowels. Pectin has absorbent properties and soothes the intestinal wall when it is combined with kaolin. It can also slow down digestive transit.

Constituents - Kaopectate

• Heavy kaolin - 197.2 mg
• Pectin - 4.4 mg
• Methyl para-hydroxybenzoate (E218) - 2.0 mg
• Sorbic acid (E200)  - 1.0 mg
• Excipient Q.S. - 1 ml

Kaopectate - Dosage

Kaopectate is to be administered orally and can be used in various animal species. The recommended dosage is:

• Dogs: 15 to 120 ml
• Cats: 9 to 40 ml
• Foals and calves: 90 to 240 ml
• Lambs: 30 to 120 ml
• Piglets: 30 to 120 ml

Divide the dose so that it is administered 3 to 4 times over the course of a day over a period of 2 or 3 days.
